Independent Pharmacies

For independent pharmacies

You have the prescription in hand and cannot source the medication. Somewhere nearby, another licensed pharmacy has it on the shelf.

The situation

The patient is waiting while you make calls

Allocation limits and backorders mean there are medications you simply cannot get through your usual channel when you need them. Meanwhile the prescription sits unfilled and the patient is told to come back.

The informal answer has always been to call around. That works when you happen to know who has it, and it leaves you assembling records afterward from phone calls and emails.

What the platform does about it

1

Find the medication you are short on

Search a network of licensed pharmacies by drug name, NDC, manufacturer, or form, and see what is available to transfer right now.

2

Help fill a prescription elsewhere

When another pharmacy is looking for something you can transfer, you can make it available. Listing is free.

3

A record of every transfer

Each transfer produces a transaction record you can retrieve, rather than a trail spread across phone calls and email.

Worth knowing

Where you likely stand on DSCSA timing

If the company that owns your pharmacy has 25 or fewer full-time employees licensed as pharmacists or qualified as pharmacy technicians, FDA exemptions currently run to November 27, 2027 for certain enhanced requirements. Separately from that timing, each pharmacy remains responsible for its own recordkeeping on the transfers it arranges. The platform generates transaction documentation regardless.

How the platform handles documentation

Nothing to commit up front

Registration and listing are free, with no subscription and no tiers. A fee applies only when a transfer completes, so a medication that is never requested costs you nothing to have listed.
